Just in case you were wondering…..
….football is alive and well in Alabama.
I completely understand.
I’m from the south where we take our football very seriously.
I was raised on first downs and field goals and touchdowns and two point conversions…..
…..and I once watched a Friday night football game wearing a mum the size of a small planet.
But nothing….and I mean nothing….prepared me for the devotion of the Alabama football fan.
They take serious to new heights.
At Chapel Market shoppers wore their colors proudly with colorful outfits designed to support their favorite team. There was the gray and crimson and hounds tooth of the University of Alabama and the blue and orange of Auburn.
Roll tide.
War eagle.
I raise my Cranberry Fizz Mocktail to both.
Around here we don’t take sides. Consider thisblog Switzerland…..
….until basketball season starts in Kentucky. 🙂
Cranberry Fizz Mocktail
3 ounces of sparkling cider or ginger ale
3 ounces of cranapple juice
splash of lemon or lime juice
3 tablespoon of sugar and1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon completely blended
Rub a lemon or lime around the rim of your glass and then dip into the sugar/cinnamon mix.
Fill the glass with ice.
Add then cranapple.
Add a splash of fresh juice of lemon or lime.
Top off with sparkling cider or ginger ale…..
….and then raise your glass to your favorite team. 🙂
PS You can see more mocktail ideas here.

Marisa Franca @ All Our WayOct 28, 2014 at 6:34 am May I start now?? Let's party! Consider it a Breakfast Beverage Bingeing Blast. Yum!! I can't wait to get started. I may be cross-eyed by lunch time so then we could start on Luscious Licking Lapping Lunch and that could be caffeine oriented and hearty soups. We could start a new trend. And I completely understand team sport loyalty. Our town goes bonkers -- Bloomington, IN -- as in IU. We stand out of the way of the rabid fans -- you could get trampled. Have a wonderful day!!

Jean YewellOct 29, 2014 at 12:23 pm Beautiful and I am certain a tasty mocktail but, I am hung up on the mum reference. We were at the UK homecoming on Saturday in Lexington and there was not a mum in sight. I and miss and love some of the charm of old traditions just like I love my old houses and furniture.
