What is the easiest way to get Nightmare Fuel in DST? ›

A safer and simpler way to get Nightmare Fuel is to capture Bees with a Bug Net and then release them at an Evil Flower patch, which can be found where the Things and Maxwell's Door are. This will eventually cause more Evil Flowers to spawn, and their petals can be crafted into Nightmare Fuel.

Nightmare Fuel is generally acquired by going insane. There are two ways the player can do this. First, the player can go totally insane and kill hostile Shadow Creatures. Each hallucination killed will give the player one to two Nightmare Fuels.

Nightmare Fuel is used to craft various Magic items. It is also used to fuel Night Lights, Maxwell's Codex Umbra, the Magiluminescence and other objects. Chester can transform into Shadow Chester by placing Nightmare Fuel in each of his nine inventory slots on a Full Moon.

Nightmare Fuel is a post-Moon Lord crafting material dropped by most Pumpkin Moon enemies after The Devourer of Gods has been defeated.

It does not drop from the Devourer of Gods, but defeating the mechanical worm will allow players to farm Nightmare Fuel from one of the many world events. Enemies killed during the Pumpkin Moon, which is a base event in Terraria, have a chance drop Nightmare Fuel only after the Devourer of Gods has been killed.
