Have you ever seen wild animals just having the time of their lives without a care in the world? It's truly the epitome of beauty and freedom. While we're caught up dealing with wars, politics, Maandamano and everyday stressors, these creatures are simply enjoying life. They are the true kings of having fun! However, it's heart-wrenching to think about how we are destroying their landscapes for our own gain. It's especially frustrating to see people scrambling for ivory and other resources, just to finance their own wars and personal interests. We're killing off entire generations of animals for what? Money and power? When I was a young boy in the Village of Nyamware, a gentleman once conned my grandmother off her hard-earned money. Grandma in all her majesty and wisdom told the guy 'may you never find peace with my money'. And so I say 'may you never find peace with the poaching proceeds'As I sit here and ponder, I can't help but feel lost for words. But let's take a moment to appreciate these amazing creatures and what they bring to our world. We need to do better and make a change. We must find ways to protect and enhance their habitats, so they can continue to enjoy their lives just like we do.Take a step back and ask yourself, what can you do to make their lives better? We have already caused so much damage, but it's not too late to make a difference.#ProtectWildlife #PreserveTheirHabitat #MakeADifference #WildlifeConservation

Immediate-return vs delayed-return environment. For tens of thousands of years, the animal kingdom and our ancestors have worked on immediate-return environment; be it to find the next meal or to save your lives from predators. Over time however our brains have slightly evolved and we now have a bit more foresight. This has helped us with career planning, building a house for shelter, medical check ups etc.But the brain is a very tricky thing. It still largely prefers #instantgratification over #delayedgratification. #stanford #marshmellow expirement very well demonstrate that. I believe mid-way is the right way to go, as with most things in life. One should use #instantgratification to trick the brain into doing things it wonât otherwise do and #delayedgratification for long term benefits.#behavioraleconomics moneyHOP

Does anyone else ever get the feeling that many major news items seem to make a good analogy for something else, or at least appear to reflect what has happened in many other circ*mstances ...For instance ...- The recent dam floods, once the damage is done, it is hard to stop the flow ... - BJ stepping down as an MP, for now, leaving the door open for a return, using the situation to make the most of the moment ...- Hedgehogs coming to harm due to what was done so that wildlife can thrive ...- Raising issues about the honours list, cronyism and all that ...And so on, and so on, and so on ...You can take a break from it all, a few days, weeks, even years, the length of time is insignificant, as despite all progress, everything seems to still have that familiar feel to it in the end ...Was watching Soccer Aid tonight, listening to the points being made about how in times of war it is often the children that suffer most, it is sad but most probably true, and can relate that to so many other things also, just need to give it a little thought ... đ§#thinkingaboutthings #justanotherthought #thinkingdifferently #onebigchocolateeg #beavoice #beanecho #dotherightthing #stopthespread #dowehavetolivewithit #circular #donotstareatgoats #whatdoyouthink #wonderlust #wanderlust #wherediditcomefrom #whoknows #cananyonehelp #coldseason #hottopics #dejavu

Now to those very petty silly politicians who keep inciting our different communities to attack eachother over constituency borders claiming natural resources especially the pastoral communities here with the rampant cattle wars; grazing lands, cattle rustling, traditions and rites of passage etc, take a look this picture and ask yourselves if you were here ,by now there would be all out war between these countries. We live in a world where there are ways of managing and sharing natural resources, averting tribal conflicts and resolving historical injustices. Please stop living in the year 300 BC!#pastoralists #tribes #conflictresolution #sharingresources #alternativedisputeresolution

LIFE ... IS ABOUT MOVEMENT AND DIVERSITY... plants, microbes and animals in constant interaction ... IT IS NOT ABOUT REST AND hom*oGENEITY ...... PLANTS ... cover the soil ... carry out photosynthesis ... retain water, carbon and other nutrients ... PROVIDING FOOD AND A FAVORABLE ENVIRONMENT FOR MICROBES AND ANIMALS ...... ANIMALS ... concentrate feces and urine ... stimulate the renewal of shoots and roots ... INCREASING PLANT PRODUCTION ... and ACCELERATING THE RECYCLING OF NUTRIENTS ...... MICROBES ... DEGRADE ORGANIC MATERIALS ... promote the availability, absorption and fixation of nutrients ... ENHANCED THE DEVELOPMENT OF PLANTS AND ANIMALS ...IN NATURE, ONE DOES NOT PROGRESS WITHOUT THE OTHER ... the simplification of these ecosystems results ... in environmental problems ... and/or in increased use/dependence on inputs ... THIS IS SIMPLE TO UNDERSTAND !!!THE QUESTION IS: ... HOW DO WE USE THIS KNOWLEDGE ???#regenerativeagriculture #generationrestoration #4p1000initiative #onlyoneearth #holisticmanagement #fornature #naturebasedsolutions #sustainability #climatechange #landuse #biodiversity #agriculture #ecosystemservices #environment #conservation #health #healthyfood #sustainable #agroforestry #agribusiness #regenerativeagriculture

Boom! Your Board of Directors has approved $70,000 towards a Dall sheep study in BC and the Yukon. This study involves government from both sides of the border and our friends at the Yukon Wild Sheep Foundation. This multi-year cross-border study will involve collar purchasing, collar deployment on the sheep, and taking health samples in the first year. In the following years, we will be able to study the collar data, conduct surveys of the sheep, check on lamb recruitment, study the effects of freeze thaw events have on the sheep, effects of spring snowfall, conduct mortality flights to find out the how/why and so on. If this is something you like supporting, consider becoming a member of us and/or WSF Yukon. https://www.yukonwsf.com https://lnkd.in/gTNqV-Ghđ¸: Wild Sheep Ambassador @darrynepp #wildsheepforever #conservation #wildsheepsocietyofbc

I remember the couple who lost their lives in the bear attack and extend my condolences to their grieving family. It has been exactly one week since the incident, and my heart still aches when I think about it.The backcountry is one of my favorite places, a location I lived near for a while and visited for research and photography. I am deeply saddened that such a tragedy happened here. As a human-wildlife conflict expert, I have been asking myself since that day: could this tragedy have been prevented? When I evaluate the statements of the official authorities who intervened and investigated the case, as well as the comments of independent experts, various scenarios emerge, all of which consist of a combination of multiple factors. However, one fact remains: nothing can be known without experiencing that situation firsthand. No matter how trained, experienced, or brave you are in nature, there is always the possibility of encountering a risk. There is a moment when emotions come into play, and you either live or die. Unfortunately, as seen in this case, both sides lost. Many people love to spend time in the wilderness engaging in various nature activities. This passion can sometimes bring negativity with it. As an individual who has been observing nature for 30 years and intertwined with wildlife, I can say that the dynamics of nature have been changing in recent years. When you examine historical data and listen or read to past stories, comparing them with today's world, you may encounter things that are contrary to the ordinary flow of life. When I look at the last 10 or 20 years, many negative factors such as the rapid increase in the human population, warming and sudden changes in weather conditions outside of seasonal norms, habitat loss and degradation, light and sound intensity, water and soil pollution, and overhunting are on the rise. This situation has an extremely negative impact on wildlife as well as human health. My observations indicate that the tolerance levels of both humans and wild animals are gradually decreasing. Unfortunately, the lack of mutual tolerance is an extremely dangerous and critical issue in this period when the frequency of coexistence and encounters between human and wildlife populations is increasing. As researchers, public, and managaments around the world, we need to think about this situation and work hard on it.#humanwildlifeconflict #humanwildlifecoexistence
